Day 6 – Finished!

with 2 comments

All done, what a huge sense of satisfaction!  We’re actually home in Victoria already, facing a large pile of reality, but still glowing with happiness at the end of such an amazing week.  We’ll get a stage 6 post up ASAP along with a full set of photos posted to our Flickr site.  The brief version of our day goes like this:

  • Once again, stunning scenery;
  • Aviva continued to get stronger, putting the fear into the 5th and 6th place teams on the downhill into Avon;
  • No heart problems for RC;
  • Finished in 7th place (mixed team) in a few ticks over 5-hours, retaining our 7th place overall (mixed) finish.

Everyone’s support kept us light on our feet – thank you once again!

The Stage 6 Race Video is up – that’s us crossing the line (etc.) at 5:40 of the video.

  1. I hope you recovery is going well. I actually have a pacemaker (second one actually) so know all to well the frustrations you are going through. All these things are sent to test us and make us stronger!

    If you are interested in, when you are back up to speed, we actually organize a similar event to TRR called The Moose Ultra, based in Ontario, Canada. All the information is at runthemoose dot com.

    Cheers

  2. Richard:

    Please excuse the tardy reply. Thanks very much for stopping by and for the kind words, especially coming from one who knows – and far better than I – the travails of a heart that doesn’t always want to play along. The recovery continues and so far everything appears to be in order.

    I’ve taken a look at your race and it looks absolutely grueling – delicious! I’m running the TRR again this year (assuming all goes well with the ticker), so won’t be able to do your race this year, but would love to attend sometime in the near future. Also, when I have a proper Team Atehena website built (one of these days!), I’d be happy to give a shout out to the Moose.

    Kind regards,

    r.
